Less than half a year after the launch of the GeForce RTX 4000, the platform GeForce NOW is already adopting GPUs.

If it is always possible to criticize the prices charged by NVIDIA or to be sorry for the erratic availability of the GeForce RTX 3000s over the past two years, this time it is difficult to find fault.

64 teraflops per user

Indeed, as a prelude to CES 2023 in Las Vegas, the firm confirmed the implementation of GeForce NOW SuperPODs powered by RTX 4080s. At NVIDIA, the SuperPOD is the heart of the cloud gaming platform and the booster of this way should allow him to take a new step.

We hardly have the means to verify the claims of the company, but it would be a question of a raw power of 64 teraflops per dedicated user on the platform. Which would be five times the power of an Xbox Series X or 1.75 times the power offered by previous SuperPODs.

Such a reserve of power allows, still according to NVIDIA, to set up streaming up to 240 frames per second. As you can imagine, it would be unheard of on this kind of platform.

DLSS3, ray tracing and latency < 40 ms

Such animation speed is not, however, the result of the raw power of the GeForce RTX 4080 SuperPODs alone. NVIDIA also highlights the support for DLSS 3 which will logically be there to boost performance without (too) harming the graphic quality of compatible games.

Thanks to the deployment of SuperPODs, it will also be a question of making the options more accessible ray tracing, which are particularly heavy for the NVIDIA infrastructure… Any PC gamer will tell you that! But that’s not all, via the NVIDIA Reflex system, it should be possible to benefit from better latency management.

On GeForce NOW style gaming rigs, this latency is clearly the sensitive issue. NVIDIA is doing quite well overall, but thinks that Reflex can overcome latency click-to-pixel under 40 milliseconds. All you have to do is test it!

While the cost of GeForce NOW subscriptions does not seem likely to increase, NVIDIA is talking about a deployment of SuperPODs RTX 4080 in North America and Europe from January… but spread over several months.
