CES 2023: HP builds laptops and PCs from coffee grounds and leftover cooking oil

For HP, sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in the production of new laptops and computers. That is why the company uses unusual materials for its new products. The HP 24 and HP 27 all-in-one PCs and the HP 14 Eco Edition notebook presented at CES 2023 consist of coffee grounds and cooking oil residues, among other things!

The recycled coffee grounds provide the color sprinkles in the housing of the all-in-one PCs. The cooking oil is used on the HP 14 to manufacture the bottom cover of the laptop.

In addition to these rather unusual materials, HP also uses recycled plastics and recycled aluminum as well as recycled polyester. These are used, among other things, in the arm stands and bases of the all-in-one computers. Overall, more than 40 percent of the housing of the new all-in-one computers consists of recycled materials, with the laptop it is at least 25 percent.

What do the devices have to offer technically? The HP 14 Eco Edition is only available with 13th generation Intel Core i processors (i3, i5, i7). You can choose between 4, 8, 12 and 16 gigabytes of RAM. The built-in SSD stores either 128, 256, 512 gigabytes or 1 terabyte of data. Additional features include a USB C, two USB A and an HDMI port as well as a headphone jack.

The new all-in-ones, on the other hand, are available with both Intel and AMD chips. They offer up to 32 gigabytes of RAM and 1 terabyte of device memory. In addition to an Ethernet port and headphone jack, you will also find several USB C and USB A ports, stereo speakers and a front camera.

The HP 24 and HP 27 are scheduled to go on sale in May 2023 for 599 and 699 euros respectively. The HP 14 in the Eco Edition from August for 599 euros.
