CES 2023 — RTX 40s and 240 Hz mini LED screens for Razer’s new Blades

Gaming is in the spotlight at CES in Las Vegas, and both NVIDIA and AMD presented their new graphics cards for laptops. AMD and Intel have also exhibited their processors laptop and desktop which will be integrated into the machines of 2023. Razer has therefore logically taken the opportunity to update its range of Blade gaming PCs with these new components, but not only.

We will thus see this year two new chassis with larger screens than before since the 15.6 and 17 inch formats are disappearing in favor of the 16 and 18 inches, in the 16:10 format moreover. The two PCs are not, however, identical and offer different functionalities.

Mini LEDs at 240 Hz

First interesting element on the 16-inch model, mini-led panels will be offered and they will offer HDR and a huge brightness of 1000 nits. Razer has also chosen an original feature on this screen and two display modes can be selected: a UHD (4K) “creator” mode with 120 Hz refresh and a Full HD “gaming” mode at 240 Hz.

The technical limitations of current laptops do not allow for a 4K 240 Hz screen, this compromise ultimately turns out to be attractive. Players who want to favor competitive multiplayer games will be able to adopt Full HD 240 Hz, and those who prefer better definition will select the 4K mode. However, it will be possible to choose a classic 240 Hz QHD + IPS panel for those who wish.

RTX 40 graphics cards and 13th Gen Intel

On the GPU side, we will now find Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 at most and Core i9 from Intel for the processor part. We should therefore see tenfold performance in games on these computers, but we will have to wait for our tests to find out more.

It is these components that will be found on the Blade 18, but it will also be intended to be a real gaming / work station with a 5 Mpx webcam and 6 speakers. However, the screen will only be available in QHD+ 240 Hz.

Both PCs will hit the market in Q1 2023, starting at $2,700 for the Blade 16 and $2,900 for the Blade 18.
