CES 2024 – L’Oréal combines air and light to dry hair without drying it out

Dyson is not the only one to invest in “beauty tech”. This is also the case for the L’Oréal group, which showed it at CES with its AirLight Pro. A new type of hair dryer, this one does not use resistance, but “infrared light technology” combined with air flow. And the advantages of this technology would be numerous.

Less dry and smoother hair

The AirLight Pro more specifically uses a technology called LightCare. Developed not by L’Oréal, but by the start-up Zuvi in which the group indicates that it has “made a minority investment”this relies on tungsten halogen bulbs to dry “without excessive heat”. On its site, where you can also discover another hair dryer using it, Zuvi compares LightCare to sunlight. Ultimately, this process would allow the L’Oréal hair dryer to leave hair more hydrated, but also smoother, whatever its nature. The group indicates that it has carried out tests on 500 people with different hair types, but still mentions parameters to be personalized according to needs. An application is also mentioned. Finally, the AirLight Pro consumes up to 31% less energy than competing high-end hair dryers. Unfortunately, individuals will probably have to wait a bit before affording one.

L’Oréal should initially target hairdressing specialists, but the general public market seems to be well in its plans for the future. It remains of course to discover the price of this AirLight Pro, which may be quite high. If it has not yet been specified, the Halo hair dryer from Zuvi is priced at €399…
