Usually confined to the presentation at CES of TVs, sound bars and other similar products, Samsung will for the 2024 edition introduce the future of its gaming screens QD-OLED.

The famous Odyssey range will soon welcome two new members with the latest fashionable image technology, QD-OLED. The two future products will respectively feature a 31.5-inch UHD panel and a 27-inch QHD panel, with the latter having an alluring refresh rate of up to 360 Hz.

A new Odyssey QD-OLED

Already well placed in the gaming monitor market, Samsung intends to drive the point home with its next two products, which will be presented during CES 2024. These will indeed feature QD-OLED display technology, which therefore promises a very nice image quality.

The first will feature a 31.5-inch UHD (3840 x 2160) panel with a pixel density of 140ppi, the highest recorded to date on an OLED screen, equivalent to that of a 65-inch 8k TV, we are told. we. To achieve this result, the press release cited in the source below specifies that Samsung used a new “ultra-precise” printing technology.

The second expected screen will be slightly more modest, with a 27-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) panel, and a pixel density of 110 ppi. However, it will do well in the proverbial game with an extremely high refresh rate of 360 Hz, coupled with a particularly fast response time of 0.03 ms.

For the moment, this is all we know about their technical sheet. However, we can count on connectivity featuring the now usual DisplayPort, HDMI 2.1 port(s) and USB-C port(s). Wireless connectivity for using streaming applications in particular cannot be ruled out either.

Mass production is already underway

If we will have to wait until CES 2024 to better know these two new and promising Odyssey monitors, the press release specifies that their mass production is already underway. Samsung even goes so far as to say that it plans to more than double the shipment of QD-OLED displays in 2024 compared to 2023.

With this information, we can estimate that these two new Odyssey screens will be deployed a few weeks after the event taking place in Las Vegas from January 9 to 13. An arrival at the end of January/beginning of February cannot therefore be completely ruled out.

The price remains to be known. The Odyssey range is not known for being cheap and, given the promises of these two new additions to its catalog, the bill is also likely to be relatively high.
