CES 2024 – TCL declines its NXTPAPER technology in new tablets

CES is in full swing, peppered with announcements of new products, many of which concern audio, screens and even computing. TCL, invested in both the TV market and smaller devices, is unveiling a new wave of touchscreen tablets. The Tab 10 NXTPaper 5G and NXTPaper 14 Pro both rely on NXTPAPER display technology, which aims to imitate the effect of paper under the finger, while limiting eye fatigue. It is nothing new, since it was shown for the first time in 2021, and has been on shelves every year since. Now in version 3.0, it is intended to offer “even more choice while [la marque étend] NXTPAPER range to more TCL product categories and screen sizes in 2024″in the words of Stefan Streit, the CMO of TCL.

TCL is therefore integrating NXTPAPER into tablets recently announced at CES, but whose availability (to come within a few months) is limited to the American market. The NXTPAPER 14 Pro shows TCL’s ambitions in the high-end market, since behind the device’s 2.8K screen (14 inches) sits a Dimensity 8020 chip from MediaTek, 12 GB of RAM and storage. of 256 GB, all powered by a 12,000 mAh (33 W) battery. More compact, the TAB 10 NXTPAPER 5G prefers a 10.4-inch panel, the definition of which TCL does not detail, and has a chip (also to be specified) compatible with 5G. Their prices have not been revealed, just like those of two NXTPAPER smartphones (the TCL 40 XL NXTPAPER 5G and TCL 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G), also made official for the North American market.

Beyond the products announced, the brand makes a declaration of intent on the occasion of this CES: “During 2024, TCL will launch tablets and smartphones equipped with NXTPAPER 3.0 technology to the global market, starting with devices for the US market, at CES 2024, including the NXTPAPER 14 Pro tablet, the TAB 10 tablet NXTPAPER 5G, and the 50″ series smartphones. Still little known, it should therefore be more talked about in 2024, and will undoubtedly be mentioned by the manufacturer during the MWC in Barcelona at the end of February.
