The lucky winners of the 2024 Césars were revealed this Friday, February 23, 2024. Télé Star takes stock here!
This Friday, February 23, 2024, the legendary Olympia hall welcomedthe 49th Cesar ceremony. This highlight of French cultural life was notably marked by Judith Godrèche’s speech on sexual and gender-based violence. The feminine was in the spotlight throughout an evening which dedicated works produced, written or performed by women. An event in the history of the institution which had been the subject of a scandal after the César awarded to I accuse by Roman Polanski in 2020.
Anatomy of a fall established himself as the big winner of this 49th edition. The 2023 Palme d’Or left the competition with no less than six statuettes: best film, best direction for Justine Triet who also shares with Arthur Harari the award for best original screenplay, best actress for Sandra Hüller, best actor in a supporting role for Swann Arlaud and best editing for Laurent Sénéchal. The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley was also widely rewarded. The voters awarded him the Césars of the best original music (Andrea Laszlo De Simone), from best sound (Fabrice Osinski, Raphaël Sohier, Matthieu Fichet and Niels Barletta), from the best photography (David Cailley), best costumes (Ariane Daurat) and best visual effects (Cyrille Bonjean, Bruno Sommier and Jean-Louis Autret).

The Quebecois Monia Chokri would never have imagined raiding the César for best foreign film against Christopher Nolan. The Academy has also dedicated the talent of Raphaël Quenard, best male revelation For Dog of the breakage by Jean-Baptiste Durand, who walked away with the prize for best first film. The Academicians awarded the prize for best documentary to Daughters of Olfa by Kaouther Ben Hania, the César for best animated film Linda wants chicken! by Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach, that of the best fiction short film The Wait by Alice Douard, the statuette for best documentary short film Fluid Mechanics by Gala Hernández López. Summer 96 by Mathilde Bédouet was crowned best animated short film. Stéphane Taillasson was rewarded for the sets of Three Musketeerswhile Valérie Donzelli and Audrey Diwan shared the prize for best adaptation for the scenario of Love and Forests. Finally, let us mention the César for best female revelation awarded to Ella Rumpf for Marguerite’s Theoremthat of Best Supporting Actress Adèle Exarchopoulos For I will always see your faces and finally that of best actor to Arieh Worthalter for The Goldman Trial.
