As TF1 Info reports, the scar challenge is currently spreading like wildfire on TikTok and circulates in particular among subscribers under 25 years of age. The principle ? Pinch the skin of the cheek very hard then twist it in order to mark the skin and reveal a large red trace to give the illusion of a scar.

As often with these kinds of challenges, tutorials are even available on how to participate. But if the scars are supposed to be temporary, a dermatologist interviewed by RTL wanted to provide some clarification. “The danger for these young people is to get a spider angioma: dilated vessels under the skin forming a red spot, which persists. And therefore to keep aesthetic sequelae, requiring in some cases a laser intervention”. Beyond the physical consequences, this challenge can also lead to questions.

TikTok reacted

A Tiktok member whose “Scar” videos have been noticed and circulated a lot has indeed been forced to post another video where he asks people to stop doing this challenge. While he was in class with many red marks on his face, one of his teachers asked him if everything was okay at home, fearing that he would be the victim of violence.
