Champions Cup: Montpellier lose but qualify for the quarter-finals

The Héraultais, winners in the round of 16 first leg (40-26) last weekend, validated their ticket for the quarter-finals in extremis despite the defeat in London (33-20).

Montpellier held firm on the ground of Harlequins. Winners after a spectacular match last week (40-26), Philippe Saint-André’s men lost (33-20) on the lawn of Twickenham Stoop by containing the many English attacks which therefore failed on the thread despite the five tries scored (against two French sides). Smith had the transformation of the victory at the end of the foot in the 77and minute of play but the ball did not pass between the posts. Montpellier will face the winner of the double confrontation between La Rochelle and UBB.
