Champions League: Erling Haaland scores his 12th goal and aims for Cristiano Ronaldo’s record

After Manchester City’s draw at Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final second leg (1-1), Norwegian Citizens striker Erling Haaland further increased his lead at the top of the competition’s goalscoring charts by scoring his 12th goal of the season. The striker has also taken his tally to 35 since his Champions League debut.

In the 21st century, only six players have managed to score at least 12 goals in a single Champions League campaign. The record is currently held by the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo with a total of 17 achievements in a single edition.

Olivier Giroud in the top of the basket

On Tuesday, the French Olivier Giroud (AC Milan), the Nigerian Victor Osimhen (Naples) and the Brazilian of Real Madrid Rodrygo had reached the 5 goals during this season during the qualification in semi-final of Milan in Naples (1- 0, 1-1). All still in contention in the competition, they could return to Kylian Mbappé, author of seven goals in the Champions League this season but eliminated from the competition since the second leg against Bayern Munich.
