It’s a big poster for the Parc des Princes this Tuesday evening. PSG hosts Dortmund for its first match of the season in the Champions League with kick-off at 9 p.m. The Parisians will therefore try to recover after their defeat against Nice last weekend and before hosting Olympique de Marseille on Sunday.

The Paris Saint-Germain club is preparing to face Dortmund this Tuesday evening and, in the process, recover from its defeat against Nice last weekend. Paris still hopes to win the Champions League, even if its leaders shout it much less loudly. Indeed, since the takeover of PSG by the Qataris in 2011, the objective has been clear: to win the trophy.

“The Champions League is not an obsession”

If the capital almost realized this dream three years ago by reaching the final, the club has disappointed again recently. The Parisians have been eliminated in the last two seasons in the round of 16. So this season, the leaders are opting for a change of direction. The latter wish to display more modesty by prohibiting players from focusing solely on the Champions League. A speech also taken up in the locker room, notably by captain Marquinhos. “The Champions League is not an obsession, it is not a pressure. We have competitors, we want to get to the top and we have this desire,” he explains. “It’s work, it’s everyday life, it’s the field that will speak,” he concludes.

But PSG is not abandoning its great ambitions and the arrivals of Dembele and Kolo Muani in particular are proof of this. In any case, PSG will have no room for error, inheriting a difficult group this Tuesday evening, but also AC Milan and the rich Newscastle. It is therefore time for Kylian Mbappé, to whom we owe seven goals in just four games, to show the way.
