Charente-Maritime: a man sentenced to four years in prison after the violent assault of his wife

The facts took place in Rioux, between Cognac and Royan, four days after Christmas. Unable to bear the news, the latter is seized with an excess of rage and is unleashed on his companion. “He then throws her on the bed. He hits her hard in the face. She manages to get out of the bedroom to reach the living room, trying to escape, but he catches her and hits her in the ribs with a blunt object.», Details the gendarmerie.

The young woman finally manages to escape and takes refuge with a neighbor, in the company of her daughter “who unfortunately attended the whole scene“. She immediately contacted the gendarmes, who quickly arrived on site and arrested the violent husband.

Four years in prison

The victim, who has a swollen face and who suffers from an open wound to the skull, is taken to hospital. The accused is placed in police custody at the Cozes brigade, where he recognizes the facts. He was presented immediately to a magistrate from the Saintes public prosecutor’s office and was placed in pre-trial detention before being tried in immediate appearance on January 4. He was then sentenced to four years’ imprisonment, one of which was suspended with a warrant of committal.

When he left the hospital, the victim was taken care of by the Cell for the fight against personal attacks (CLAP) in Saintes. A doctor also grants him a temporary incapacity for work (ITT) of eight days. The girl was also heard by an investigator from the House of Confidence and Family Protection of the Departmental Gendarmerie Group of Charente-Maritime.
