Charlotte Casiraghi rarely gives interviews and rarely talks about her famous family. Now Caroline von Hannover’s daughter is making an exception.

Charlotte Casiraghi likes to keep her private life out of the limelight, the 36-year-old does not have a public Instagram account with private snapshots and otherwise the Monegasque prefers to go the covered way with internal family information – like her mother, Caroline von Hannover, 66.

For her heart project “PhiloMonaco”, a series of events from the “Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco”, which celebrated its start on Monday, June 12, 2023, Casiraghi is now making an exception and gives the newspaper “Monaco-Matin” an interview. The mother of two becomes surprisingly personal.

“There is a deep exchange with my mother on these issues [insbesondere über Migranten und den Zweck des Mittelmeers, Anm. von Monaco-Matin]. On the issue of the migration crisis, we share ideas and texts. I also remember telling her about a text by Hannah Arendt on the subject,” says Charlotte Casiraghi, adding, “We feed each other.” Referring to her uncle, Prince Albert of Monaco, 65, reveals the 36-year-old that she “often talks about the great ecological challenges”. Charlotte Casiraghi emphasizes: “I send him books and references from philosophers who have dealt with this topic. It’s more between us, but I would be honored and more than pleased to have my mother’s involvement on this issue and to invite the prince to take part in a dialogue.”

Charlotte Casiraghi’s interest in social issues is similar to that of her mother and uncle. “In any case, there is a very strong exchange between us,” confirms Casiraghi in an interview with “Monaco-Matin”.

“I don’t necessarily want to reveal everything that happens between us”

But it’s not always that uncomplicated between mother and daughter. In an interview with Town & Country magazine in December last year, Charlotte Casiraghi revealed that her relationship with her mother changed significantly when she gave birth to her first son. “When you become a mother, the mother accepts that she’s not the only one who is a mother. And that’s very liberating. Many women feel that they also have the power to give life and that they don’t only have their mother to thank. So of course you reflect differently … Because the mother-daughter relationship is very complex,” said Casiraghi, emphasizing: “I try not to talk about my very private relationship with my mother, and I I don’t necessarily want to reveal everything that happens between us, but it’s always ambivalent. I feel like even when you have kids of your own, you still struggle to have your own space.”
