Charlotte Valandrey: the disconcerting confidences of Yann Moix on their love story


In the columns of Paris Match, Yann Moix indulged in a few confidences about his relationship with Charlotte Valandrey.

On July 13, Charlotte Valandrey left us. Aged 53, she succumbed following her third heart transplant. The actress then left behind her daughter, Tara, born of her love affair with Arthur Lecaisne. Following the announcement of his death, many celebrities paid tribute to him, like Yann Moix, who indulged in a few secrets to Paris Match this Thursday, July 21. “Charlotte Valandrey is dead. This sentence makes me die a little”he begins by writing, specifying that he considered the actress as the sister he never had.

But before qualifying it as such, Yann Moix had a love affair with Charlotte Valandrey. Indeed, while he is a high school student, the one who will become a columnist goes to the cinema to see the film Red Kiss in which the actress plays. She then embodied the role of Nadia, a 15-year-old teenager, an activist. An attitude that immediately pleased Yann Moix who decided “to fall madly in love” of this girl “with a diaphanous complexion, a plump lip, sulky pouts, a sunken forehead”. What seduced him? Her “disobedience to all, this refusal of numbers, this holy horror of collusion and standing to attention”. Crazy in love, he will begin by writing to her.

It was in 1996 that he met her for the first time. In effect, Yann Moix pretext to want to adapt his first novel to the cinema : “A week later, she asked me to marry; already frightened by this sacrament, (…) I refused, panicked. She was amused and persecuted me, I who had loved her almost always, with her most attentive she cried out for love and wanted to be consumed by it.”can we read.

Regarding her illness, the actress did not hide anything from her: “‘Do you know my secret?’ This question revealed the pain. I understood that it was true: that the virus was there, in my room on my bed. (…) Never did I think I could live my life with AIDS“. After a short relationship, the two lovebirds separated. She also forgave him for not having been able to live with her. But the columnist and the actress remained very close, until this disastrous Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
