A whole town is preparing to pay tribute to the family decimated in a fire on Monday, where only the father survived. On the spot, the emotion is still very strong and many of them want to go to the white march, organized in Charly-sur-Marne this Saturday afternoon.

At the foot of the facade, the ground is still strewn with bouquets of flowers and footballs. Children’s drawings hang on the walls, blackened by the flames. The fire, which ravaged the building, killed an entire family, made up of seven children; only the father survived. One knee on the ground, Florent, an acquaintance of the family, came to meditate. He still does not realize: “It’s horrible, you don’t realize. Every time I pass by, after my races, the emotion rises and it destroys me”, he explains, very moved.

“A family that everyone rubbed shoulders with”

Florent intends to come to the white march with his son, Enzo, to try to forget. Rémi, the co-organizer of the event, hopes that the tribute will help the 2,600 inhabitants of Charly-sur-Marne to move on. “We are waiting for the white march to be able to mourn for some. For others, I think it will be more complicated, it will take time. We are a small town, everyone knows each other. It’s a family that everyone rubbed shoulders. In those moments, we speak from the heart,” he said.

In the streets of the village, difficult to extract words from the modest inhabitants. The emotion is too strong, the eyes are misty. Rémi hopes that many will come this afternoon to pay tribute to the family, despite the sadness.
