For 8 seasons, viewers were passionate about the adventures of Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige. But did you know that only one of the four actresses appeared in all the episodes of “Charmed”?
Broadcast from October 7, 1998 in the United States, Charmed quickly captured the attention of viewers who became passionate for 8 seasons about the adventures of Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) and Paige (Rose McGowan).
Created by Constance M. Burge, the fantasy series followed the fates of three sisters, who discovered they were descendants of a long line of witches with powerful magical powers. The trio fought the forces of evil with the assistance of Leo (Brian Krause), their being of light.
Despite its success, Charmed bowed out in 2006 after 178 episodes broadcast.
Only one actress appeared in all episodes
Although the series stars four sisters, only one of the actresses appeared in all episodes. But who is it ? Shannen Doherty having left at the end of season 3, and Rose Mcgowan having arrived in the first episode of season 4 to replace her, these two actresses are obviously not in the race.
Everything therefore comes down to Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano. And against all odds, it is Piper’s interpreter who wins the competition. If Alyssa Milano appears in all 178 episodes of Charmed, Holly Marie Combs is the only one of the two to be present in the unaired pilot of the series. Which means that she participated in the 179 episodes of Charmed which were canned.
Another actress almost played Phoebe
If today it is difficult to imagine a Phoebe played by anyone other than Alyssa Milano, the actress who made herself known in Madame is Served was not the first choice of the production.
It was in fact the actress Lori Rom who was chosen to play opposite Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty in the first pilot of Charmed which was never broadcast. The young woman, however, left the filming after the first episode for personal reasons.
Following her departure, producer Aaron Spelling called on Alyssa Milano to play the character of Phoebe. One thing is certain, Lori Rom must probably regret her decision, the actress having never really had a career on the small or big screen.
Charmed is broadcast every evening from Monday to Friday from 4:20 p.m. on 6ter. The series is also available in full on Prime Video, and the first 6 seasons are on Paramount+.
