ChatGPT might better remember what you tell it

A leak reveals two features that could make an appearance on ChatGPT. The first would send databases to the AI, the other would tell it details about you, so it remembers what you tell it.

If Google Bard receives regular updates, it is not the only artificial intelligence chatbot to benefit from it: ChatGPT is also entitled to it. A leak indicates that the tool would see two new features, which could be available in priority to those who have the ChatGPT Plus subscription.

ChatGPT would like to remember you better

A Reddit user with the pseudonym kocham_psy shared a screenshot of what appears to be the ChatGPT interface on the social network. He presents this as upcoming features on the tool. As a reminder, this user had leaked the chat sharing feature, which arrived some time later.

The first feature revealed is called “ My profile “, with the description: “Add any information you would like ChatGPT to retain about you and your preferences.» Contrary to what theJDNwho reports the information, it would not be to have several profiles, but rather to indicate to ChatGPT who you are. Users could thus entrust ChatGPT with their age, gender, profession, reasons for using the tool, etc.

Truth be told, ChatGPT (the chatbot, not the digital service) does not have access to our personal information unless we provide it ourselves. What better frame ChatGPT in short and give him details on what is expected of him in his answers.

You could make ChatGPT work with your files

The other feature that might be coming is called “My files“. On the screenshot published on Reddit, we see the possibility of uploading files on ChatGPT, in PDF format at least. There is no indication of its usefulness, but we can deduce the possible uses.

This could make it possible to transmit to the chatbot databases, texts longer than what is usually possible to write as input, for example. One could summarize an entire book, create statistics without the need for advanced knowledge in spreadsheets, etc.

For his part, kocham_psy clarified how he had access to these features that could arrive on ChatGPT. In response to a question from a user, he writes that they are “hidden in the client code even if your account does not yet have access to the featuresand wrote a script to trick the site into thinking his account has access to it.

OpenAI wants to reassure on data protection

These two features are ultimately related to personal data, which can be sensitive, especially since some entrust ChatGPT with sensitive data. This is, for example, what three Samsung engineers did last April, not anticipating the potential consequences that this could have. Data protection is a sensitive subject, especially in the European Union with the GDPR: this was what led to the blocking of ChatGPT in Italy for several weeks.

This is probably why OpenAI announced a subscription “Businesswhich should arrive in the next few months and which will be really dedicated to companies, can we read on a page of FAQ of the service. It will be designed forprofessionals who need more control over their data as well as for companies looking to manage their end users“. A subscription that will not take into account the data of the latter to train ChatGPT. It may be in this context that these two leaked features will be launched, if they are ever published.
