The TP-Link Tapo C320WS is primarily intended for use outdoors. Accordingly, it also has a waterproof housing (IP66). With its 4 megapixel camera (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) it delivers high-resolution images. You can integrate the device into your smart home hub, but you don’t have to.
So you can operate the surveillance camera either as part of your smart home or as a single device. For the installation you can connect the camera either by cable (LAN) or wirelessly (WiFi). Of particular interest are the 30-metre full-color night vision and the motion detector, which informs you about movements in the camera’s field of view.
You can determine which movements should be reported – like other functions – via the free TP-Link Tapo app, which is used as a control unit for the camera. You can use a built-in microphone to speak to people in front of the door, while you scare away unwanted guests with the built-in alarm siren.

How good is the offer?
On the other hand, it is a bit unpleasant that you need an external microSD card to record videos, which is not included in the scope of delivery. If you don’t have it at home, you have to invest an additional 30 euros for one. According to several online test reports, the sound of the built-in camera is said to be a bit dull. For some people, connecting could also become a problem: the TP-Link camera must be operated with a cable.
At such a low price as Amazon is currently offering, these are bearable points of criticism. You certainly won’t get a super high-tech security camera with this deal. but a solid device, with motion detection, night vision and all the essential features that a security camera needs to have.
