The images of the Sony XR-65X90K are of good quality overall. We measured a brightness of 1031 cd/m² in brilliant mode and 958 cd/m² in cinema mode – both very good values. You will not be disappointed with either bright or dark screen content. 93 percent of the DCI-P3 color space is covered, which is absolutely sufficient.
Sony is also targeting gamers with this 65-inch giant, after all it should be able to work optimally with the Playstation with 4K resolution. The two times ten watt speakers and the support of an integrated subwoofer ensure a distortion-free sound up to a little more than room volume. An analogue and digital audio output as well as an HDMI interface with an extended audio return channel are available for integration into an external sound system.
In terms of equipment, the XR-65X90K actually has everything you can expect from a television in this class. There are two triple tuners, Google TV as the operating system, two USB and four HDMI sockets. The television consumes around 124 watts for broadcasts in the standard color space, 166 watts for highly dynamic HDR images and 0.3 watts in standby. Overall very good energy efficiency.
