Cheers on the 21st globe: – Wine and dance between the roots of the vines

You get a map right at the entrance: Otherwise it can easily be that you get “lost” in the extensive cellar system of Herrnbaumgarten – especially at a later hour. And according to the modified keyword “Unter der Erd’ – there’s no sin” this year there was a hearty celebration. (Almost) everything was allowed, primarily concerning the dress code.

It was a premiere: for the first time, the traditional globe of the self-proclaimed “crazy village” was moved from January to summer, partly “overground” and on schedule. Organizer and Weinhauer original Friedl Umschaid decided to do so because the number of visitors has literally exploded over the years. On the other hand, of course, to give the now hundreds of guests from the 21st globe more space. And they were enthusiastic about the performances in the corners of the large cellar labyrinth of Herrnbaumgarten. No plan without a plan The focus was, “Nomen est Omen”, of course the enjoyment of wine. But also almost 20(!) Bands of national and international origin made sure that every taste in music was catered for. The special thing about the event has always been the organizer himself: Friedl Umschaid, who is also one of the leading heads of the “Nonseum” in the self-proclaimed “crazy” Weinviertel town, does not have it organized – he is there for all his guests and Also there in emergencies, as this year showed: When the power went out (caused by damp spots in the cellars), he went home without further ado and came back with a cart full of power cables, which his technical team laid as an emergency bridge. They are very familiar with the wide, crooked cellar system – in contrast, above all, to first-time visitors to the globe, who can determine their underground position using the overview map issued at the entrance: because with Internet navigation, many meters underground, of course nothing further was possible. . .
