Chemical accident in the canton of Schwyz: students receive medical care

An incident involving toxic chemicals has occurred in an indoor swimming pool in Lachen. A total of around 200 emergency services, four rescue helicopters and 17 ambulances were deployed.

ran./dho. In the indoor pool of the Seefeld school building in Lachen, in the canton of Schwyz, there was a large-scale operation by rescue workers on Tuesday. For reasons that have not yet been clarified according to a statement the Schwyz cantonal police leaked ozone in the swimming pool.

Twelve school children and one adult had to be hospitalized with breathing difficulties. According to the canton police, a total of around 200 emergency services, four rescue helicopters and 17 ambulances were deployed. In total, the emergency services had to provide medical care to over 40 people.

The cause of the ozone leak in the indoor pool is currently unclear and will now be clarified by the police.
