Taylor Kinney wants to take a break from Chicago Fire. The NBC firefighter drama is without the charismatic Kelly Severide, who has been a main character since 2012.
A source with US magazine Deadline has confirmed that the actor is taking a break to attend to a personal matter. Cast and crew were probably informed last Friday (January 20, 2023), the future scripts will have to be rewritten accordingly.
Kinney’s character, Kelly Severide, has just formed a more stable relationship with Stella Kidd (played by Miranda Rae Mayo) on the show, and by the end of season 10, they were married. Season 11 of “Chicago Fire” just aired. An end to the series is not expected due to Kinney’s break. Jesse Spencer, a leading actor, left the series in 2021. Whether Kinney will return again remains to be seen.
