Chinese electric cars: the Brussels investigation will also target European manufacturers

(AOF) – Tesla and European carmakers exporting from China to the EU will be part of Brussels’ investigation into whether China’s electric vehicle sector receives unfair subsidies. This was reported by the Financial Times on Tuesday, citing European Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. The focus of the investigation “is not limited to Chinese brand electric vehicles”, but “may also concern vehicles from other producers if they receive production subsidies”, he said.

This investigation was announced in mid-September by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in her annual State of the Union speech, delivered to the European Parliament.
