George Clooney, 63, is daring to take on a new task. In spring 2025 it will be seen on the famous Musical Boulevard in New York City. The drama film “Good Night, and Good Luck,” in which the actor co-starred, directed and co-wrote the screenplay in 2005, is being adapted for the Broadway stage.

“I’m honored to return to the stage after all these years and especially to Broadway, the art form and place that every actor aspires to be,” Clooney enthused according to “Variety” in a statement. He will play the lead role of journalist Edward R. Murrow in the musical version of “Good Night, and Good Luck.” In the film he was played by David Strathairn, 75.

Clooney will write the script

The theater version of the drama, like the film version, is written by George Clooney himself. As before, he will receive support from Grant Heslov, 60. Tony winner David Cromer, 59, will direct. The musical will be performed in one of the Shubert Theaters, although the location is not yet known.

“Good Night, and Good Luck” was a huge success in the film version. It was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director.
