CHL – Innsbruck is defeated by Skelleftea, out for Salzburg

HC Innsbruck lost the last group game in the Champions Hockey League (CHL). The Haie, who had already been promoted to the round of 16 before the game, had to admit defeat to the Swedish top club Skelleftea AIK 2:4 (0:1,1:1,1:2) on Tuesday. Ice hockey champions Red Bull Salzburg lost their minimal chance of promotion with a 1:5 (0:1,1:2,0:2) against Lahti Pelicans.

In Innsbruck, 19-year-old Markus Gratzer made his professional debut in goal for the Haie and achieved strong results with 45 saves and a catch rate of 93.75 percent. However, Gratzer had to admit defeat to shots from Lukas Vesterlund (20th), Linus Lindström (36th) and Axel Sandin-Pelika (42nd), Pär Lindholm scored into the empty goal for the final score (60th). The Tyrolean goals were scored by Senna Peeters (22nd/PP) to make it 1-1 and Kele Steffler (50th) to make it 2-3. Mitch O’Keefe’s team will advance to the knockout round on the 14th/15th.
