Alongside imposing cases, InWin has always made it a point of honor to offer mini pc convincing. The Chopin is one of them.
If it does not benefit from a major marketing campaign, the Chopin has, it seems, won some success with lovers of small cases. Indeed, after offering the Chopin Pro, InWin is now lifting the veil on a third version, the Chopin Max.
200W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply
The idea is of course to keep the strengths of the first models, but also to respond to comments from users. Despite its great qualities, the Chopin could thus seem a bit tight on the power supply side with, initially, a 150 W block.
In the same way, its extremely compact format did not necessarily leave much room. With only 43 mm of space, the choice of CPU cooler was rather limited. The Chopin Pro started to answer these questions, but the Chopin Max goes even further.
Thus, as soon as the Chopin Pro was released, InWin swapped the 150 W power supply for a beefier model capable of delivering 200 W and certified 80 Plus Gold. Admittedly, at present, the 50 W may seem a bit excessive – the Chopin has no PCIe port –, but they are reassuring.
Up to 54 mm for the cooler
Unsurprisingly, InWin did not wish to go further with the Chopin Max at this level, and it is therefore the same Gold block that is used. A block that we imagine sufficient for all APUs on the market, knowing, of course, that the Chopin is intended for a mini-ITX motherboard.
On the other hand, InWin has revised the design of the case and has arranged for it to be possible to increase the height for the cooler. We therefore go from 43 mm on the Chopin and Chopin Pro to 54 mm on the Chopin Max. Of course, this will pave the way for thicker cooling solutions.
This increase in available space has been achieved without having to increase the dimensions of the Chopin Max, which remain at 244 x 84 x 217 mm for a weight of 2.2 kg. Suffice to say that the case could not be more compact! And, the ultimate improvement, InWin has added a USB-C port on the front.
