After the first episodes of “And Just Like That …” hit like a bomb, Chris Noth is now causing a sensation with an advertisement – and divides the opinion of the fans.

Warning, this article contains spoilers from the first episode of “And Just Like That …”. After a long wait, fans could finally watch the first two episodes of the “Sex and the City” sequel on December 9, 2021. But already during the first 30 minutes, viewers had to be strong inside and say goodbye to a popular character in the series. Chris Noth, 67, is poking fun at this fictional death together with Ryan Reynolds, 45, for an advertising campaign.

Chris Noth: Advertising deal makes people laugh

The dramatic start of “And Just Like That …” shocked fans worldwide. Because that’s just how Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker, 56) love Mr. Big (Chris Noth) died. While Carrie listens to Charlotte’s (Kristin Davis, 56) daughter’s piano concert, Big sits down on a stationary bike at home and takes an online training course. Shortly afterwards he has a heart attack and dies.

Now Chris Noth appears together with fitness coach Jess King, who also trained him virtually in the series, in a commercial for the interactive sports brand Peloton. They make themselves comfortable in front of the fireplace and toast a “new beginning”. “You look great,” King says to Noth, who replies, “I feel great. Shall we go for another lap?”

Then the camera zooms out and shows two Peloton home bikes standing behind them. From the off the voice of Ryan Reynolds can suddenly be heard, who is clearly alluding to the “Sex and the City” sequel: “And just like that … the world was reminded that regular cycling is heart, lungs and circulatory stimulates and improves and thus lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases, “he says in the voiceover. “Cycling strengthens the heart muscles, lowers the resting heart rate and reduces blood lipid levels. He is alive.”

Mixed reactions to the commercial

With this funny action, Peloton apparently wants to distance itself from the dramatic serial death. In fact, the shares of the US company slipped shortly after the start of “And Just Like That …”, as the “Tagesspiegel” reported. The fitness brand recently issued a statement to the Los Angeles Times that said Peloton was not to blame for Big’s death. Rather, it is due to his “extravagant lifestyle”, consisting of “cocktails, cigars and large steaks”, as well as his previous “cardiac event”.

Peloton hopes that this humorous advertisement will probably boost the Christmas business. And what do the fans say? The majority of the users are amused and especially enthusiastic about Ryan Reynolds’ funny voiceover. “God bless you @vancityreynolds that you bring us through this difficult time,” writes a user about the spot on Instagram. Others wonder how quickly the Peloton PR team did it and express a certain suspicion: “I just want to know how you got Chris Noth to do it so quickly.”
