Directed by Jean-Marie Poiré, Father Christmas is garbage is the film adaptation of the play created in 1979 by the Splendid troupe composed of Thierry Lhermitte, Christian Clavier, Gérard Jugnot, Josiane Balasko, Marie-Anne Chazel, Michel Blanc and Bruno Moynot.
Note that Michel Blanc does not appear physically in the film and that Anemone, the famous Thérèse, is not part of the troupe.
Released in the summer of 1982, the feature film attracted more than 1.5 million spectators to theaters. A rather mitigated success which did not prevent Father Christmas is garbage from acquiring its status as a cult film over its countless television broadcasts.

Adapted from the book by Joseph Joffo published in 1973 (and already adapted for film in 1975 by Jacques Doillon), the feature film takes place in occupied France. Maurice and Joseph, two young Jewish brothers left to fend for themselves, show an incredible dose of malice, courage and ingenuity to escape the enemy invasion and try to reunite their family again.
In the film also worn by Patrick Bruel, Elsa Zylberstein, Dorian Le Clech, Batyste Fleurial, Bernard Campan and Kev Adams, Christian Keyboard interprets Doctor Rosen, a strong and hopeful character who has amazed the spectators more accustomed to seeing him in comedies.
