Jura’s plethora of catalog is enriched with a new automatic coffee machine. Its code name: C8. With this model, the Swiss giant has put all its know-how into a compact and minimalist machine. Only 26 cm wide, the new C8 is the thinnest reference in the Jura catalog (the S8 model is 2 cm wider), which limits the space taken up on a work surface. Other models in our comparison are even more compact; we think in particular of the Smeg BCC13, the Kottea Espressima or the Scott Slimissimo which, with 18 cm of width, find their place even more easily in a cramped kitchen.

With its C8, Jura aims to return to the essentials and to do this, the manufacturer has reduced the choice of specialties to the four most popular classic coffees: coffee, espresso, cappuccino and latte macchiato, which it is possible to continue one after the other. It is for this reason in particular that the machine is delivered with a milk jug, which is connected to the machine using a transparent flexible hose at the dispensing nozzles.

Inside, we are logically supposed to find all the technologies dear to Jura, starting with the pulsed extraction process, supposed to guarantee optimal extraction time by injecting hot water under pressure into the ground coffee by small impulses. The frequency of these injections varies depending on the quantity of water for short coffees (ristretto and espresso). Although this C8 model does not include the grinder which adapts the fineness of the grind according to the chosen recipe (Product Recognizing Grinder), the C8 is equipped with a steel grinder and a percolation unit which varies from 5 to 16 g to, presumably, guarantee an ideal grind by dosing optimally in order to release the aromas. Will this be enough, knowing that the minimum quantity to prepare an espresso according to the rules of the art is 7 g?

The Jura C8 is a connected automatic machine that works in conjunction with the manufacturer’s JOE application. This allows, among other things, to control your machine remotely or personalize your recipes directly from the screen of your smartphone. It is also from this interface that the user can be put in touch with customer service.for rapid and effective analysis and advice“.

At Jura, the C8 occupies the mid-range segment. This is particularly for this reason that it skips a touch screen in favor of an LCD screen surrounded by physical keys, which should be less intuitive than a touch interface. It is already on sale at €899.
