In his podcast, Christian Polanc reviews the first show “Let’s Dance” and talks about the early departure of comedienne Maria Clara Groppler.

Just a few weeks ago surprised Christian Polanc, 45, announced that he would no longer compete as a professional dancer in the current season of “Let’s Dance”. However, he can’t completely break away from the popular dance show and gives his assessments, background information and observations in the weekly podcast “Let’s Talk about Dance”. In the current episode, he not only evaluates the celebrities’ first dances, but also talks about the reasons that, in his opinion, led to the early exit of Maria Clara Groppler, 24, and Mikael Tatarkin, 27.

Christian Polanc talks about Maria Clara Groppler’s surprisingly early exit from “Let’s Dance”.

First, Polanc goes through the individual dances in the show one by one and also evaluates the performances of Maria Clara Groppler and Mikael Tatarkin. “I thought it was a very solid performance. It wasn’t great either. I would have hoped for much, much more from Maria,” he analyzes and attests that the comedienne has “relatively good rhythm.” She definitely showed “really good actions”. The drawback, however, was that it was “absolutely not consistent.” The professional also has a clear opinion on the jury’s verdict. “I can’t understand the two points now,” he says, referring to the assessment of Joachim Llambi, 59. In his opinion, four points would have been justified. In the end, the “Blue Eyes” couple ended up in the bottom third of the jury’s evaluation.

After analyzing the individual dance couples, Polanc will once again talk about the performance of Maria Clara Groppler and Mikael Tatarkin. From his point of view, this result reflects numerous points that represented a disadvantage for Groppler. “This is a very, very important point that comes up again and again. MAZen, i.e. the films, the clips that are shown before the dance, don’t always show what it’s like, dear ones,” he alludes to the im The widely discussed, supposedly distorted portrayal of Groppler on the Internet. There is an accusation that the comedienne was shown too much as a person joking around and not enough as the hard-training celebrity that she actually is. Groppler herself also discussed this on Instagram after her departure.

This has happened to Polanc himself several times. “You try to pack a whole week full of training, suffering, hard work and pain into two minutes and it has often happened to me that you didn’t have the feeling that what was shown there reflected the whole week would have to. And I think that was also the case with Maria and Mika.” In any case, Polanc has never experienced a celebrity suddenly being too lazy to work on “Let’s Dance”. After all, actors, comedians, singers and the like are naturally used to having to work hard to achieve something in this business.

It wasn’t just the player who was the problem

There was another complicating element to the problem for Maria Clara Groppler: her dance partner Mikael Tatarkin, who is taking part in his first season of “Let’s Dance” as a newcomer. Of course, it’s not about the 27-year-old’s abilities. Rather, the couple’s low profile was their downfall. Because as a newcomer, Mikael “didn’t have a big fan base of his own.” Since at the beginning of a season the calls from viewers are divided into 14 couples, often only a few hundred calls tip the scales – especially if you only score in the bottom third according to the jury’s evaluation. “Then the difference whether you start out dancing with a professional who is very well known, who has his own big ‘Let’s Dance’ fan base or not, makes a very, very big difference.”
