Years ago, Christiane Taubira was the target of a rumor. A fake letter circulating on social media claimed that one of his sons was in prison for murder. This infox has long followed the former Keeper of the Seals.
Christiane Taubira victim of a rumor. The presidential candidate has long been the victim of a false story widely circulated on the Internet. In 2013, France Info has deciphered the rumors to understand. “Is it true that Christiane Taubira’s son is in prison for murder? here is the question that many were asking about the former Keeper of the Seals.
This rumor took root with the dissemination on social networks of a letter entitled “Letter from a mother to another mother” with the surtitle “True story”. Addressed directly to Christiane Taubira, the signature caught the eye: “the mother of the young man whom (her) son murdered.” The author did not give any other information on the family of the politician: neither first name, nor surname, nor age. And for good reason, the latter has always been very discreet about his private life. At the time, this rumor aims to discredit Christiane Taubira by inventing a paradox between his position as Minister of Justice and an alleged murder committed by “his son”. But in reality, this story is made up from scratch.

Christiane Taubira: this evidence that dismantles the rumor
What proves this to be false? In this letter, the author evokes avigorous protest in front of television cameras against the transfer of (his) son from Lyon prison to Mulhouse prison.” Except that there is no record of this so-called “vigorous protest.” The former minister never spoke about this subject on television. Then, an average citizen cannot know if a person is in prison since it is “confidential information” in the words of lawyer Maître Eolas. Finally, The Dauphine contacted the name appearing on the letter: Edith Besançon. The latter explained that “atnone of his sons were murdered” and “As for Madame Taubira, I have nothing in particular against her.” Christiane Taubira, like other politicians, is often the target of such attacks.
