Actress Christina Applegate has gained weight due to her MS medication. This changed her self-image.

Christina Applegate (51) was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021 and has had to be treated with strong medication ever since. These, as well as the lack of exercise, have had an impact on her weight. “I gained 40 pounds from inactivity and medication,” the actress tells im Interview with the “Los Angeles Times”. “I didn’t look or feel like myself,” she recalls.

At the same time she was in front of the camera for the third season of the Netflix series “Dead To Me”. She was only able to see this months later. “I don’t like to see myself fight,” Applegate explains. Eventually she was able to “disconnect from my own ego and realize what a beautiful piece of television it was.”

Christina Applegate Announces ‘Last Award Show’

Applegate continues to talk about the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards. She is nominated for Outstanding Performance as an Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Jen Harding in ‘Dead to Me.’ “It’s probably my last awards show as an actress, so it’s a big deal,” she says, adding, “Right now I can’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on set.”

Although acting is off her radar, Applegate already has her eye on her next career move: “Doing a whole bunch of voiceovers to make some money so my daughter can feed her and we can have a home.”

Christina Applegate made it public in August 2021 that she had multiple sclerosis. She wrote on Twitter: “Hello friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I’ve had so much support from people I know who also have this disease. It’s been a tough road. But how we all know there’s always a way forward unless some asshole blocks it.”
