On Christmas Eve, the first one shines a Christmas vesper from the St. Marien Church in Winsen a. d. Rest.

The birth of Jesus can be celebrated at home through broadcasts and streams. A selection of services that will be broadcast.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, attending church services at Christmas is not an option for many believers. In order to be able to liturgically celebrate the birth of Christ from home, the ARD broadcasting corporations, the ZDF and private broadcasters like Bibel TV have expanded their program of church service broadcasts for Christmas. Like last Easter, the churches themselves will also provide live streams. Here is a selection.

December 24th, Christmas Eve

At 2 p.m., Bibel TV shows a Protestant service from the Berlin Cathedral. At 3 p.m. the rbb will broadcast the ecumenical service from Berlin. At 4:15 p.m., the first and the BR had the Protestant Christmas vespers from Winsen a. d. Luhe in the program. At 7:15 p.m. ZDF broadcasts the Protestant Christmas vespers from Ingelheim. The BR will also show Christmas mass with Pope Francis from 7:30 p.m. At 10:40 p.m. the ecumenical Christmas mass from Dresden follows in the MDR. At 11:20 p.m. the Christmas mass from Lobberich will be broadcast on the first.

At 10:05 p.m. Bayern 1 broadcasts the Christmas mass from Eichstätt. SWR 4 broadcasts the Mette from Freudenstadt at 10:05 p.m. and the Mette from Gießen can be heard on HR 2 at 10:15 p.m.

At 3 p.m. the Christmas vespers, the church service and the family Christian mass from Münster, Hamburg and Cologne will be made available as a stream. The service from Würzburg, Hamburg and Dortmund can be seen at 5 p.m. The Christmas masses from Fulda, Munich and Dortmund will be available at 10 p.m. and from Bamberg and Würzburg at 10:30 p.m.

December 25th, Christmas Day

At 10 a.m., Bibel TV shows the service live from Salzburg Cathedral, at the same time the BR broadcasts the Protestant service from Munich. The ZDF presents a Christmas service from Rein at 10:45 a.m. The Urbi-et-Orbi blessing from Rome follows at 12 noon.

Bayern 1 will broadcast the evangelical service from Munich on the radio at 10 a.m. The fair from Münster can be heard at the same time in WDR 5 and NDR Info. The Urbi-et-Orbi blessing from Rome can be received at 12 noon on Radio Horeb.

At 9:30 a.m. the Pontifical Office from Eichstätt, Rottenburg or Bamberg can be seen in the stream, at 10 a.m. online broadcasts follow from Hamburg, Munich or Fulda, among others. Services from Dortmund and Münster are available at 11:30 a.m.

December 26th, Boxing Day

At 10 a.m., Bibel TV broadcasts the service from Cologne Cathedral. ARD Alpha will present the Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach at 10:30 a.m.

Bayern 1 and DLF are adding trade fairs from Weilheim and Leipzig to their program at 10 a.m. MDR Kultur and HR 4 will follow at 10:05 a.m. with Catholic and Protestant services from Leipzig and Offenbach.

On December 26th, the services from Würzburg, Munich or Speyer can be seen in the stream at 10 a.m. The services in Cologne and Oberberg at 11 a.m. and in Dortmund at 11:30 a.m. can be viewed as a stream.
