“Dracula” film adaptation by Luc Besson announced

“Dracula – A Love Tale” will be the title of the upcoming project, with which Besson would like to follow up on his Venice success “Dogman” from last year. According to the US trade publication “Deadline”. The new “Dracula” film adaptation tells a kind of origin story about the well-known bloodsucker. The prince of darkness curses God after the premature death of his wife and thus becomes an immortal vampire.

According to “Deadline”, “Dogman” lead actor Caleb Landry Jones (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”, 34) will take on the role of Dracula. It is still unclear which character the two-time Oscar winner Waltz will play. Filming is scheduled to start later this year, so that “Dracula – A Love Tale” could be released in cinemas in 2025.

Meanwhile, Christoph Waltz is also in front of the camera for the adaptation of another classic horror story. He is part of Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” ensemble (“The Shape of Water”, 59). The Mexican filmmaker is currently restaging Mary Shelley’s (1797-1851) classic horror story for the streaming service Netflix. “Star Wars” star Oscar Isaac (44) and Jacob Elordi (26), who was most recently successful with “Saltburn,” play the main roles of Victor Frankenstein and the monster he created.
