Christophe Gans talks about several Silent Hill games that would be in development

We knew Christophe Gans was a big fan of video games. This summer, he had already spoken about his relationship with the media in numerous interviews, including to discuss the famous final fight between Samuel Le Bihan and Vincent Cassel freely inspired by SoulCalibur. And what we imagined is confirmed: the French director is going to make a new film in the world of Silent Hill. In an interview with the media MaG – Movieand Game, available on YouTube, he discusses at length his experience with the film Silent Hill, but also his work with Konami.

“I’m working with Konami and the Silent Team simply because they’re kind of the co-producers of the film. They have a right to look, it’s normal, on the adaptation work I’m doing for a new Silent Hill film. Somehow it also helps them see how Silent Hill can evolve. They know my total devotion to Silent Hill. For example, the last time we spoke by videoconference, they asked me why I had thought about the aesthetics of monsters in such and such a way. Each time I had an answer to that because monsters are products of the psyche, metaphorical, symbolic creatures, so they were interested in knowing how I had come up with certain looks for the creatures. It’s interesting because there are two creative teams working on the same universe completely independently but at the same time exchanging information. The respect I have for them and they have for me was forged by the fact that they really liked the first Silent Hill movie, that it was a success. We know each other, we like each other, everything is going well.”

We learn that he is working on a second Silent Hill film, and that therefore, by the way, he is in contact with the Konami teams who are developing future games in the franchise. Because yes, these games do exist, according to him.

“It’s at Konami, there are several games, there are several teams. There’s a whole line of games actually, they’re going to reinvigorate the franchise, I think they’ve been very impressed with the success of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 (remakes) which are amazing indeed. They thought it was a good time to go back, and it coincided with when my producer and I wanted to come back to Silent Hill. The two teams, without consulting each other, said it was time to go back.
