As Kenneth Branagh and Alden Ehrenreich join the cast, a first photo of Cillian Murphy announces the start of filming for “Oppenheimer”, which Christopher Nolan will film partly in black and white.
It’s turning for Christopher Nolan! Shooting for Oppenheimer, the English director’s twelfth feature film, began this week. And it is with a first photo of Cillian Murphy, interpreter of the main role of this biopic in the form of a thriller, that the team marked the occasion.
Headed by Universal, which took in the filmmaker after his breakup with Warner, the feature film will be released in theaters on July 19, 2023. There will be talk of J. Robert Oppenheimer, famous for having been the father of the atomic bomb during the Second World War, and it is obviously no coincidence that the first photo unveiled was in black and white.

But the site also announces that Oppenheimer will mark the history of cinema by becoming the first feature film in which certain sequences will be filmed in IMAX and black and white.
Budgeted at $100 million, Oppenheimer will be one of the summer 2023 movie events around the world. Thanks to the aura of its author, who wrote the screenplay based on the book by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
