Sometimes the simplest things are the ones that can take the longest to happen. Android smartphone owners will now be able to navigate between multiple windows like never before.

While Chrome 109 is now available, the famous web browser has just welcomed a new feature that should interest users of the mobile version on Android.

Chrome: navigation on Android soon to be streamlined?

As surprising as it may seem, until recently the mobile version of Google Chrome still did not allow you to open several windows simultaneously. If Android users could of course juggle between their different tabs, the windows were put on the floor. But as you can imagine, this is indeed about to change.

Having debuted in beta last year, the Instance Switcher feature has started to show up in the stable version of the browser on Android, with some surprises in store.

Instance Switcher: the ideal feature for switching between windows

Just as it is possible on the desktop version of Google Chrome, you can now open several windows simultaneously from your smartphone or tablet. One of the great things about this feature is that it lets you use different Google accounts (if you want) without one window interfering with the other (the same goes for history , bookmarks, etc.). But the surprise of the day concerns the appearance of a “Manage Windows” menu from which everyone can manage their windows in a whole new way and as they see fit.

In fact, when two windows are active, you can display them simultaneously. The screen is then divided into two and you can easily switch from one to the other on the fly. Finally, a display in the form of maps providing an overview has also appeared. This allows you to take a quick look at your tabs already open in the active windows (or to switch from one instance to another in no time).

However, it seems that Google has not yet communicated on the deployment of windows in the Android version of Google Chrome. But according to the findings of Chromium Unboxed, everything suggests that the feature has only appeared in the last few days and that it will still be a bit of a wait before it is released on a large scale. Anyway, this is news that should delight owners of Android devices.
