Chromebooks might ask you to buy a better USB-C cable

The latest Chromebook OS update introduced a feature that notifies users when the USB-C cable in use is not sufficient.

Please note that this feature is only available for Chromebooks using Intel 11 processors.e and 12e generation and feature USB4/Thunderbolt 3 functionality. Users will be notified if the cable does not support USB4 or Thunderbolt, or simply cannot handle the required data rates. For example, a warning indicates that external monitors require cables that support 5 Gb/s transfers.

“To enable a USB4 connection, replace the cable with a Thunderbolt 4 cable or a USB-C cable that performs at or above SuperSpeed USB 5Gb/s. Make sure the replacement cable packaging has one of these certified logos,” reads one of the warnings.

Something new for stylus users

The Chromebook update also includes the ability to resize the magnified portion of the screen when using docked Magnifier, and the Cursive app comes preinstalled on all Chromebooks that use a stylus.

“If you write a sentence that’s better suited to another part of the page, that’s okay – easily move it around by circling the content of the page and dragging it to where you want it,” explains Google.

“Your drawing wasn’t perfect the first time? Erase it by scribbling it with your stylus. And if you need to add notes at the top of the page, just draw a horizontal line and drag your content down to free up space. »

Google added that it will soon allow users to adjust the pen stroke thickness, style and color.
