CINEMA: Dune: Part Two, Paul Atreides embraces his destiny in the first trailer for this sequel

It was at the end of 2021 that we were able to discover Dunes in the cinema, a period which already seems very distant with its current events where everything revolved around COVID-19 and the Sanitary pass. Denis Villeneuve’s excellent film adapting Frank Herbert’s cult work again was only the first stone of a larger edifice and it was therefore no surprise thata soberly named suite Dune: Part Two had been made official just a few weeks after the film’s release. Its broadcast was then set in October 2023, before being slightly postponed on November 3 across the Atlantic and therefore on November 1 in France. Yesterday, Warner Bros. Pictures posted a very sober promotional poster and gave us an appointment for the first trailer this Wednesday, enough to increase the excitement among fans. So, what’s new on the side ofArrakis ?

VOSTFR trailer

Unsurprisingly if you know the previous adaptations or have read the first novel, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), now allied with the Fremen and the beautiful Chani (Zendaya), will prove that he has the makings of a leader by riding a Shai Hulud (worm of the sands) and gather the people ofArrakis under his banner to fight against the baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård) and theEmperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken), and thus avenge his house.

In addition to the still polished plans and the haunting soundtrack of Hans Zimmer, we can discern some new faces including that of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen played by Austin Butler in the sequence entirely in black and white, Princess Irulan played by Florence Pugh and the Bene Gesserit Dame Margot in the guise of Léa Seydoux.

We also find the nephew of the baron Glossu Rabban (Dave Bautista), the master-at-arms Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin) Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) and the chief of the tribe Sietch Tabr what is Stilgar (Javier Bardem). The cast also includes Charlotte Rampling, reprising her role as the Bene Gesserit Gaius Helen Mohiamand Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat.
