CINEMA: Jack Black reveals the games he would like to see in films

Jack Black is currently in full promotion for Kung Fu Panda 4which is released today in cinemas in France, but the actor will also be showing in Borderlands this summer. He continues interviews, notably with Inside Total Filma podcast from GamesRadar+ in which he reveals his desire to see certain adaptations of video games to the cinema.

In addition to Claptrap In BorderlandsJack Black has already lent his voice to Bowser In Super Mario Bros. The film and in games Brütal Legend, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 And Psychonauts 2he is obviously no stranger to the video game world, even dedicating a song to this medium with his group Tenacious D. But Jack Black dreams of seeing films adapted from big blockbusters video gamesurprised that nothing is yet in production:

I can’t believe they haven’t already started making a movie about one of the Rockstar games – Grand Theft Auto, but especially Red Dead Redemption. These things already feel like movies, you know? I guess that’s the problem. Some video games are already halfway to telling these kinds of stories, and there are movies that feel like video games.

Have you ever seen that episode of Black Mirror called “Bandersnatch” where you choose your own adventure at the end of the scenes? It’s like, “Ooh, are you on the red pill or the blue pill?” “I think we’re moving down this road where there will be more combinations of video games and movies, and that’s exciting. It’s like the beginning of a new era.

The wish to see GTA And RDR adapted for the cinema is undoubtedly not exclusive to Jack Black, It remains to be seen whether a production company will be able to launch this project and whether Rockstar And Take Two are up for adventure. The actor obviously spoke about his role as Claptrap in the interview, admitting to loving dubbing and seeing this role in Borderlands as “an R-rated R2-D2”, a classification designating films prohibited for minors under 17 unaccompanied by an adult in the United States. I have to say that Claptrapin the games, doesn’t have his tongue in his pocket, but who knows what the white and blue robot can say Star Wars with its “beeps”!

Borderlands will be in cinemas from August 7, 2024 in Francewhile Grand Theft Auto VI is not expected before 2025. You can find Red Dead Redemption 2 from €18.21 on Amazon, Cdiscount, there Fnac And Gamesplanet.
