CINEMA: Oppenheimer, striking first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s film about the father of the atomic bomb

Of insomnia to the trilogy Batman Passing by Dunkirk and Inception, Christopher Nolan has served us some of the most memorable cinematic productions of the past two decades. Three years later TENET (available from €8.49 in Blu-ray at Amazon.co.uk), he is about to give us a full view with Oppenheimera film based on the award-winning novel Pulitzer what is American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimerby Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.

He will thus tell us about the genesis of the nuclear bomb through the story of its creator, J.Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy)his biologist and botanist wife Kitty (Emily Blunt), the general and director of the Manhattan Project what is Leslie Groves Jr. (Matt Damon), or the founder of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, Lewis Strauss (Robert Downey Jr.). Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Michael Angarano, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek, Kennet Branagh, Dane DeHaan, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich and Matthew Modine complete this inevitably crazy cast, a constant with the director.

But what will it be like Oppenheimer ? We finally have a real part of the answer with the first trailer feature filmwhich mixes the images in 65 mm IMAX and analog shots in black and white, for an already striking rendering. The tension is palpable, the fiery and unbreathable scenes too: Christopher Nolan confided a few days ago that he had reproduced an atomic explosion without computer graphics (but a priori with other explosives than a nuclear warhead, reassure you), which again should look natural and striking on screen.

See you this summer to discover the result in theaters: the release date of Oppenheimer is set for July 19, 2023 in France.
