On the occasion of the broadcast of “Come home, I live with a girlfriend” on Gulli and Christian Clavier’s birthday, a little quiz dedicated to these heavyweights of French comedy. An affirmation, it’s up to you to find out who it corresponds to.
Michel Blanc and Christian Clavier have a few things in common. They are of course both actors, but were also born the same year in 1952 and both grew up in the Paris region, Puteaux for Blanc, Paris even for Clavier.
Their respective film careers began a year apart, in 1973 for Clavier in L’An 01, and the following year for the future Jean-Claude Dusse in The Daughters of Malemort.
But above all, the trajectories of the two actors led them to meet and become part of the Splendid troupe. Which was born in the mid-1970s and chose its name after that of the café-théâtre on rue des Lombards which they founded in 1974.
At that time there were seven of them: Gérard Jugnot, Thierry Lhermitte, Josiane Balasko, Marie-Anne Chazel, Bruno Moynot, and Christian Clavier and Michel Blanc, therefore.
Their first big success will be the play Cupids, shellfish and crustaceans, which will soon become the film Les Bronzés when the troupe decides to try the adventure of cinema. The film directed by Patrice Leconte, which was released in 1978, was a real popular hit that revealed the actors to the general public.
It was enough to release a sequel very quickly the following year, in which the merry band left the beaches of Senegal to find themselves in the heart of the French Alps in Les Bronzés font du ski.
Another of their plays, Le Père Noël est une ordure, was adapted for the big screen in 1982 with the success that we know of. But already the cracks appear and Michael White is not in the cast, he who has meanwhile left the adventure.
