Last Wednesday came out the long-awaited Avatar 2: The Way of the Water, by James Cameron, whose central characters, the Na’vis, have the particularity of being entirely blue. But they are of course not the only fictional and pop culture characters to present this original characteristic.
In the world of animated feature films, there are many examples. One can, for example, think of the eccentric and facetious Genie in the Disney version of Aladdin released in 1992. A character dubbed in its original version by the late Robin Williams, and for the French release by one of the most famous voices in dubbing , Richard Darbois, actor with an impressive filmography (voice among others of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Murray, Ed Harris, Stallone period 90’s…).
Ten years later, in 2003, the Pixar studios gave birth to the little fish Nemo, certainly orange him, but who will meet in his adventures, another clown fish, Dory with a failing memory, indeed blue, and who will have the right to his own film Finding Dory released in 2016.
We could also mention Jacques Sullivan, the almost frightening monster from Monsters & Cie accompanied by his faithful friend, green him, Mike Wasowski, the strange and voracious animal Stitch collected and adopted by the little Hawaiian girl Lilo, or the famous Sonic from from the world of Sega video games, which recently had two film adaptations accompanied in the casting by actors James Marsden and Jim Carrey.
There are also many examples of blue characters in live-action films (Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, the diva Plavalaguna in The Fifth Element by Luc Besson, Fantomas in the series of films with Louis de Funès and Jean Marais …).
