In 2006, Christophe Gans came out silent Hilla horror film adapted from the first installment of the franchise Konami and which received a rather mixed critical reception, but it still remains at the top of the basket of video game adaptations for cinema. Its direct sequel, Silent Hill: Revelation 3Dis to be forgotten, but a new adaptation has been announced.
Along with the remake of Silent Hill 2Christophe Gans returns behind the camera to direct Return to Silent Hillwhich will be based on the dark adventures of James Sunderland in the foggy city. However, fans will already cringe. FilmPortal.de indeed shared an article mentioning the production of Return to Silent Hill in Germany, half of the filming will obviously be done across the Rhine and we even have a first synopsis… which is not going to please:
Driven by the shadows of his past, James Sunderland returns to Silent Hill to reunite with his lost love, Mary Crane. But the dark and depressing little town is no longer the place of his memories. He meets characters who seem too familiar to him and who try to divert him from his search for Mary. The more he searches for Mary, the more he begins to wonder if this is still the reality – or if he has fallen into the dark underworld of Jacob Crane.
Mary Shepherd-Sunderland becomes here Mary Crane, she is no longer the wife of jamesand above all, there is mention here of Jacob Cranea completely new character in the franchise, who would be a kind of antagonist to james… Enough to completely sweep away the basic principle of Silent Hill 2even if it will be necessary to wait to discover the film in theaters to know who is really this Jacob Crane.
Furthermore, we learn that Jeremy Irvine has been cast to star in this Return to Silent Hill. revealed in War Horse by Steven Spielberg, the 32-year-old English actor has starred in several films that are not necessarily notable. His character is not specified, but he still has the appearance to embody James Sunderland thatEddie Dombrowski.
