CINEMA: Stray, soon a film with the adorable cat

Developed by the French from BlueTwelve Studio and edited by Annapurna Interactive, Stray will have been a real phenomenon when it was released last summer on PC, PS4 and PlayStation 5, and it has recently been talked about again with its arrival on Xbox Series X|S. If you missed it, it’s an adventure game with a cat in a strange futuristic world.

A short but sweet video game, and one that’s going to be adapted into an animated film. Robert Baird and Andrew Millstein, who lead Annapurna Animation since their departure from Disney Animation, announced the good news during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Robert Braid remains very evasive on the adaptation projectbut he loves (like everyone else) the game straywhich he compares to A buddy movie with a real humorous dimension between a cat and a robot. A title that does not feature any human, and which shows us a world from the point of view of a cat, here is a very complicated adaptation project, but Braid is confident. No information on the director, the screenwriter or even the distribution format (cinema, SVoDetc) has not been given yet.

Annapurna Animation will also take more and more place in the family Annapurna, stray is just the first animated film in a long series for the studio, which has a bunch of strong franchises (Twelve Minutes, Neon White, The Artful Escape, Kentucky Route Zero, Telling Lies, Journey, Outer Wilds, Gone Home, What Remains of Edith Finch), but obviously Stray is the most popular game in its catalog, that’s why it was chosen first. Other information that clearly shows the desire to move forward: director Nick Bruno (ice age 2, 3, 4 And 5, Rio, Nimona) and producer Julie Zackary (Nimona) we’re joining Annapurna Animation recently and are working on another yet unknown project.
