City cleaned up – 11.5 tons of Silverster garbage only in Salzburg

Despite the ban on firecrackers and an early curfew, many people let the corks pop at the turn of the year. In the city of Salzburg alone, 11.5 tons of rubbish was generated on New Year’s Eve. The old town fireworks were barely over when the “cleaning crew” of the municipal building yard was already rolling in.

From 12:30 a.m. onwards, 21 employees disposed of downright piles of rubbish on New Year’s Eve. A total of 11.5 tons had accumulated on the streets of Salzburg. During the first city cleaning of the new year, three sweepers, five “suction machines” and a crane truck were in use. The cleaning work lasted until 7 a.m. Then the streets were clean again.
