Over a year ago, fighting broke out in the Tigryy region between troops from the People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)-led regional government and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s central government. Abiy tried to oust the TPLF in Tigray.

The TPLF dominated Ethiopia for a good 25 years until Abiy came to power in 2018. Thousands of people have already been killed in the fighting. More than two and a half million people are on the run.
