In Menace sur Kermadec, a thriller to see this February 4 on France 2, Claire Keim plays a captain of the gendarmerie. The opportunity to rediscover Brittany, childhood memories and… Samy Naceri.
After playing alcoholic women (The thirst for life), deceived (Unfaithful) or persecuted (Harassed), Threat to Kermadec looks like a health walk, doesn’t it?
CLAIRE KEIM: It’s exactly that. I used the energy of this character to have fun! Before, I had some scruples about saying that I had fun doing my job. However, this is more and more what I seek in my life. When I was offered this role, I had just come out of an exhausting shoot for a TF1 series, Aim for the heartr. After a meeting with the director Bruno GarciaI felt that we could split the pear!
Where exactly did the filming take place?
Towards La Trinité-sur-Mer, Locmariaquer, the bay of Quiberon… How beautiful it was! I love Brittany more than anything. I sailed there a lot with my dad. As we slept on the boat, I remembered the ports more than the towns. With my mother, I also went diving, especially in Ouessant. As soon as I started earning three cents, I was renting a house on this island with some guitarist friends. We landed there and I felt like I was in paradise. If I believe in God, it’s there.
Did you enjoy seeing Threat to Kermadec?
I never watch my movies again. I spent too much time being unhappy observing how I could have done better. It’s no use if it’s just to put the spleen in the court-bouillon. You have to be able to lie to yourself sometimes. Denial is wonderful! (She laughs.)
In the TV movie, you give the reply to Samy Naceri, of which it is the return. What was the atmosphere with him?
We were very close with Samy. We met in 1994, thanks to a collection broadcast on Arte entitled All the boys and girls their age. As soon as I saw Samy, I knew he would be a star. Then we got closer at the time of Taxiwhen I was friends with Frederic Diefenthal. With Marie, Samy’s friend, Fred and I, we formed a kind of quartet. We were stuck all the time! Life has caused us to get a little lost. I think he had some not very funny moments. But when we found ourselves on the set, he hadn’t moved one iota! Despite two or three gray hairs, he had the same fire, the same passion. It’s incredible !
You play a policewoman, is it easy to handle weapons, especially after the drama that occurred on the set of the film Rust in the United States (a technician was accidentally shot and killed by Alec Baldwin, editor’s note)?
The accident happened after filming but I often think about it. One day, I took a blank bullet not far from the ear which gave me tinnitus. When I read that people pass their hunting license to have a weapon at home, it’s not very reassuring…
Could you have been a policewoman or a gendarme?
Not at all. I lack composure and distance. These people, accustomed to dealing with unimaginable dramas, are able to make themselves an armor that allows them to remain human beings with their loved ones. And above all not to freak out in the face of the cruelty of men. I want to say thank you to them.
Will you be like every year at the Enfoirés 2022 concert?
I hope so ! Unfortunately, like last year because of the Covid, it will be a show recorded without an audience. I received a lot of messages from devastated people after the concert was cancelled. Even if it won’t be the same, we must not give up to raise money.
How is 2022 shaping up?
I expect nothing and I prepare for everything! Life is so difficult right now that you have to seize every “micro-moment” of happiness, see it and recognize it. It’s very tempting to get into a ball saying that we don’t care anymore, but now is not the time!
