Se are we heading towards a wind of renewal on the side of La France insoumise (LFI)? As spotted by BFMTV, one of the driving forces of the movement, Clémentine Autain has, through the lines of a long blog post, launched the debate to significantly transform her political family. With the aim, according to her, of “taking a step to win”.
“More flexible, action-oriented, very offensive on social networks, rid of the internal battles of Congress, our movement has been able to meet some of the demands of our time. […] If we look at the balance sheet, it is clear that LFI has conquered a leadership on the left and has been able to go from 17 to 75 deputies”, argued Clémentine Autain, before pointing out certain faults.
“The places of decision-making remain unclear, the space for strategic debate is not identified, the division between the local and the national deserves to be redefined”, thus lamented the deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, also denouncing the fact that La France insoumise “is based on a small core of leaders”. Welcoming the personality of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, “keystone” of LFI, whom he allowed to “legitimize”, Clémentine Autain believes that her party must experience a turning point by crossing “a new organizational stage”.

Amend the LFI charter while strengthening the Nupes
The member of the hemicycle believes that LFI must be better represented in local authorities. “We need to have hundreds of executives throughout the territory,” she says on her blog, adding that “the diversity of points of view must be able to be expressed at all levels”. “We need to find the balance that allows us to maintain responsiveness, an ability to take initiatives quickly, while ensuring better collegiality in decision-making and a greater place at the local level”, she argues.

She therefore proposes a collegial direction at the head of the movement, whose coordinator is currently her colleague Adrien Quatennens. This perspective “could combine three levels of legitimacy: elected officials, action groups, forces of the social and cultural movement”, according to Clémentine Autain.

If the elected official calls for multiple changes at LFI, she also pleads for the maintenance and strengthening of the New People’s Ecological and Social Union, a coalition formed by LFI with the PS, EELV and the PCF since the recent legislative elections. “The more production spaces we have in common, the more connected and stronger we will be,” believes Clémentine Autain.
