the DRX head coach Kim “Kim” Jeong-soo had been thanked by the structure in February 2022, only a few weeks after his recruitment from Bilibili Gaming. The Korean supervisor, who passed through Korea, China and the NA, had been replaced in January by Shine on an interim basis, before being benched and finally dismissed. But Kim did not hear it that way. Fired for “sustainable effective restructuring” of the team, he was accused of having violated certain contractual obligations but the announcement did not give details.
The structure was also expressed later to announce that disagreements with the CEO of DRX were unrelated to this decision. A comment precipitated by the request of the fans on the reasons for this dismissal but which had not calmed anyone. Obviously, this is the Seoul Regional Social Affairs Commission who took over this case. According to Inven, the authorities thus ruled that DRX had indeed carried out an abusive dismissal, probably not having given more details on this action.
The decision therefore brings relief to the coach, who had not spoken on the case, waiting for his lawyer to give him permission to give his point of view. The commission is now asking for his immediate reinstatement within the team and the payment of the salaries he should have had during his absence. His agent reacted to the verdict in stride:
More than anything, I hope to resolve this matter in a clean and fair manner, without affecting the matches of DRX players. I want to thank coach KIM and our lawyers for their hard work in resolving this issue.
On his side, Kim claimed that DRX CEO Choice Sang-in accepted the decision. The members of the team have meanwhile indicated that they have no problem with the former manager and are quite open to a return. It will therefore be necessary to find a place for SSONG, the new coach.
